Yup, I know. It’s Sunday, not Friday. Not only that, but this Best-Dressed Man post should have run nine days ago, not two. What can I say? Disorganization is part of my overall charm.
So without further ado, let’s get to our nominees…
Nominee 1. Alexander Zverev
This isn’t the first time Zverev lands on our best-dressed list. It helps that he has a body that hangs clothes well—tall and slim, but with broad shoulders. Clothes show to their best advantage on his frame.
He and Adidas also choose well. He manages to be colorful and classy at the same time, which isn’t as easy as it sounds.
Nominee 2. Diego Schwartzman
At 5 feet eight inches, Schwartzman won’t intimidate many opponents with his physique. The Argentinian maxes out his manhood with bold, confident style, both in his tennis and in his clothes. The strong color-block shirt by Fila makes a powerful statement. Nothing fussy or refined here—Schwartzman has come to play.
Nominee 3. Francis Tiafoe
An alert LYB reader emailed me about the herd of “cows” at this year’s Australian Open. I think she meant I should include it in the worst-dressed post, but on Tiafoe, I kind of like it. Relatively few Nike players pulled off the “trippy bovine” vibe, but to me—and again, on Tiafoe—the pattern is energetic and exuberant. It’s unique without veering into the outright bizarre. I’m sure many of you will disagree with me, but we have bigger fish to fry in the worst-dressed post (coughDimitrovcough).
